Lauren King

I am excited to begin my third year at Oakhurst! I previously worked for Stanford University, the University of Chicago and taught elementary school in Gwinnett County. 

I grew up in metro-Atlanta and was raised in the Atlanta music community. It is a joy to be back! My favorite local music experience was playing clarinet in the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra for three years in high school. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College, a Master’s degree from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. I am passionate about fostering curiosity, confidence, and joy in students, and I look forward to a wonderful year in music.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, Maisie, and our new puppy. On any given weekend, you can find us playing outdoors, listening to live music, gardening, swimming, or visiting with friends. Come say hi if you see us out and about!
